DLAC 2021 – Using Formative Evaluation to Keep Your Program On Track

Below is another presentation that were recorded at the Digital Learning Annual Conference that I was involved with, but I was in another room at the time presenting a different session.

Clark, T., Debruler, K., & Barbour, M. K. (2021, June). Using formative evaluation to keep your program on track [Paper]. Digital Learning Annual Conference, Austin, TX.

This session provides practical advice for online/blended leaders about using formative evaluation to keep their programs on track, identify best practices, and conduct focused evaluations to address problems or questions. Many program leaders already use formative evaluation methods, but may be unaware of how they fit into the big picture. The session includes video tips from school leaders on how to use formative evaluation to improve programs and interactive discussion with participants.

DLAC 2021 – Remote Teaching – Emergency or Not: Examining Pandemic Pedagogy in Canada

Below is the third of three presentations that were recorded, which I was a part of at the Digital Learning Annual Conference was held.

Nagle, J., Barbour, M. K., & LaBonte, R. (2021, June). Remote teaching – Emergency or not: Examining pandemic pedagogy in Canada [Paper]. Digital Learning Annual Conference, Austin, TX.

This panel examines Canada’s response to the pandemic based on three reports. The first described how each jurisdiction managed their emergency remote teaching during Spring 2020. The second outlined how each jurisdiction attempted to manage what should have been a transition to remote teaching during Fall 2020. The third provided vignettes authored by education stakeholders sharing their stories about what actually transpired in their homes, schools, communities, and districts.

DLAC 2021 – State of the Nation: K-12 e-Learning in Canada

Below is the second of three presentations that were recorded, which I was a part of at the Digital Learning Annual Conference was held.

Barbour, M. K., & LaBonte, R. (2021, June). State of the nation: K-12 e-learning in Canada [Paper]. Digital Learning Annual Conference, Austin, TX.

This poster explores K-12 e-learning in Canada based on the 2020 edition of this on-going, comprehensive study. This annual study examines how K-12 distance, online, and blended learning is governed in each province, territory, and federally, as well as the level of K-12 distance, online, and blended learning activity occurring in each jurisdiction. There will be both English and French versions of the poster available for presentation.
