The Center for the Advanced Study of Technology Leadership in Education (CASTLE) is the nation’s only center dedicated to the technology needs of school administrators. In addition to our highly-acclaimed School Technology Leadership graduate program, we also help other university educational leadership programs prepare technology-savvy school leaders and provide numerous resources for K-12 administrators and the faculty that prepare them.
In March 2010, Virtual School Meanderings became one of the blogs associated with CASTLE. Other blogs include:
- 1 to 1 Schools
- Dangerously Irrelevant
- The Edjurist
- Educational Games Research
- Leadertalk
- School Finance 101
The CASTLE is led by Scott McLeod. Additional information can be found at http://schooltechleadership.org/.
I heard Scott McLeod speak at the Wisconsin SLATE conference this past December and picked up on his talk about badges for credentialing. Since then I have researched it further and believe it will be a great way to motivate students. NYC Public Schools is currently piloting it.
We plan to use the concept in iForward Wisconsin’s Online Charter School for grades 6-12. Digital Badgesare the Gateway to the Future. They are A Creative New Way to Encourage and Reward Learning.

Thanks for the comment Joni… Scott and I don’t always agree on the solutions, but I am pleased and flattered to be included among the CASTLE stable of bloggers.
