iNACOL Announces Updated National Report: A National Primer on K-12 Online Learning, Version 2

Glendale, AZ, November 16, 2010 – The International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL) released A National Primer on K-12 Online Learning, Version 2 at its annual conference, the Virtual School Symposiums (VSS) today. This report is an update to the original publication released in 2007.

According to author Matthew Wicks, “The National Primer on K-12 Online Learning provides a comprehensive overview of online learning by examining the basics about online teaching and learning, evaluating academic success, professional development, technology and other topics.

The International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL) hopes this report will serve as a tool for educators and policymakers who must understand the essential elements of online learning in order to make informed decisions about implementing online and blended/hybrid programs. These innovations continue to change the landscape of traditional learning and increase student opportunities for a new community of learners.

Susan Patrick, President and CEO of iNACOL states, “Today, the U.S. must explore and invest in innovations and create student-centered pathways providing educational opportunity for all children, regardless of geography, family income-level or background. We can change the course of education in America. Online learning is an innovation that is powerful—and for kids, it comes naturally.”

This report is sponsored by Aventa Learning, Connections Academy, and Insight Schools.

The report is located on the iNACOL website: www.inacol.org.
