TADO – Edublog Nomination

I’d like to nominate Teaching and Developing Online for the 2008 Edublog Awards in three different categories:

6. Best teacher blog
8. Best educational tech support blog
9. Best elearning / corporate education blog

I’ve often referred to Darren’s blog as an online staff room for the teachers at the Saskatoon Catholic Cyber School, and while it does serve that function, it is so much more. In addition to providing his staff with links to useful websites, timely news items, topic research articles, notices of conferences and other professional development opportunities, quotes of the day, and even cartoons – Darren also provides the wider K-12 online learning community with information about the cyber school, how it operates, the lessons they have learned over the past seven or eight years of operation, and really a clearinghouse of useful entries for those of us involved in K-12 online learning.

I’ve nominated him in three categories because he does so much that one simply isn’t enough…

Best teacher blog – If you are an online teacher, or even a face-to-face teacher who is interested in integrating technology into your classroom, Darren provides a lot of resources and ideas that you can consider.

Best educational tech support blog – If you are involved in the K-12 online learning community, this is probably the best blogging source of support that is available.  And in the same way the content is useful to both online and brick-and-mortar teachers, the support is useful to the general educational technology community.

Best elearning / corporate education blog – While not a corporate blog, Darren provides one of the few K-12 focused e-learning blogs.  And the level of activity, information and insight definitely make it one of the best in that category.

If you are interested in making your own nominations, just follow the nomination instructions by posting your nomination in the form of an entry on your own blog.
