BERA Conference 2024 and WERA Focal Meeting: Abstract Deadline 31st January

An upcoming deadline for my academic readers.

BERA Conference 2024 and WERA Focal Meeting

8-12 September 2024

University of Manchester

BERA is delighted to be partnering with WERA for this event which will be an excellent way to celebrate BERA’s 50th anniversary and WERA’s 15th anniversary as learned societies. Building on the record-breaking attendance at both BERA and WERA 2023 conferences, we look forward to welcoming even more international delegates and providing a wonderful opportunity for delegates to disseminate research and network with like-minded colleagues from all across the world.

For this unique event, we will gather in the northern city of Manchester. Manchester is known throughout the world for its football clubs, its international cricket ground where we host our gala dinner and its vibrant music scene including in recent years Oasis, the Smiths and the Stone Roses. Manchester is a melting pot of cultures and languages, with over 200 languages spoken, making it a truly diverse and enriching place to explore.

The people of Manchester pride themselves on their warm welcome to visitors and so we look forward to returning to this vibrant, modern city.

BERA and WERA look forward to welcoming you to our joint conference – whether you are a first-time delegate or have been to several or indeed many over the past 50 years.

Bold and boundlessly curious educators like you won’t want to miss LACUE’s pre-conference event and more.
ISTE22_email_header

Come for the 3 B’s: Bold, Boundless, Brilliant!

ISTELive 22 content is anything but the typical conference stuff. It’s designed to feed educators like you who crave big ideas and deep dives.

Weston with padding

At “Go Forth and Be Bold,” the preconference event hosted by the Louisiana Association of Computer Using Educators (LACUE), you can join Weston Kieschnick to unpack the critical technologies and effective teaching strategies we should bring forward  – and which we should abandon.

Ward with padding

And during ISTELive, TV science correspondent and Featured Voice Alie Ward will break down how you – and your students – can become boundlessly curious.

If Ward seems familiar, it’s because she’s made a name for herself by demystifying tough science concepts in fun and interesting ways on TV. You may have seen her on “The Henry Ford’s Innovation Nation with Mo Rocca,” “Did I Mention Invention?” or “Brainchild” – but now you can see her at ISTELive 22!

Sign up now to hear from Ward and dozens of other brilliant Featured Voices, including teachers, librarians, coaches and superintendents.

What’s New at ISTELive

When ISTELive comes to New Orleans June 26-29, educators are in for some new adventures. Here are three things you do NOT want to miss!

Screen Shot 2021-09-15 at 2.13.27 PM  Play the ISTE Game

Join a team with an adorable mascot (unicorns and dolphins anyone?), collect Easter eggs and complete challenges to win prizes with your team and as an individual. This online game was hugely popular during the virtual ISTELive event. Now it’s being reimagined for the in-person event.

Screen Shot 2021-09-15 at 2.13.47 PM  Immerse Yourself in VR

Come to the VR playground where you can grab a headset and be transported to a canoe in the rain forest or jump aboard the International Space Station where you can grab tools and tinker with the controls. You’ll experience totally immersive VR like never before.

Screen Shot 2021-09-15 at 2.14.09 PM  Experience Esports Live

Hear from students and educators about why esports is so engaging —  and a booming multi-billion-dollar industry. Then watch students engage in gameplay as they answer your questions about setting up a program of your own.

These are experiences you can only get at ISTELive,
so what are you waiting for?

I'M GAME!
