Join the Salon Series on Distance Learning

Note this up-coming webinar (and I am one of the participants in this session).

Please accept our invitation to our November Salon Series presentation entitled Creating Community and Social Connection to Support Deep Understanding in Asynchronous Distance Learning.

Join researcher Racquel Biem for the McDowell Foundation’s next Salon Series online event. In a panel discussion, Biem and guests will explore her research findings around how creating community and social connections can better support distance learning teachers and students in the province.

Motivation for Biem’s work began before most of us had heard of COVID-19; however, her findings couldn’t be timelier, given the number of teachers and students who were thrust into distance learning at the height of the pandemic. For some, it was an exhilarating and well-needed shift. For others, the experience proved more challenging.

Joining the virtual event for a panel discussion are Biem’s research supervisor, Dirk Morrison, an Associate Professor and Graduate Chair, Curriculum Studies at the University of Saskatchewan; Michael Barbour, Associate Professor of instructional Design for the College of Education and Health Services at Touro University California in Vallejo, CA; and Linda Aspen-Baxter, Associate Director, Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation Professional Learning.

This event is for distance learning teachers, new and experienced, superannuates and others interested in learning more and will be held on Thursday, November 25, 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Zoom. To register or for more information, please contact the McDowell Foundation at mcdowell@stf.sk.ca. Feel free to share this opportunity with others who may be interested.
