The Station Rotation Model: Must-Do vs. May-Do Stations
No, students do not need to attend every station in a station rotation!
Our students have different skills, abilities, preferences, language proficiencies, and academic needs. The “must-do vs. may-do” station rotation is a fun variation of this blended learning model that honors that reality by combining the strategic collection and use of data with student agency for a more personalized and student-centered approach.Learn more about this variation, when you should use it, and grab my free resource, now on my blog!

Watch to see how I use this alternative to the traditional station rotation.
In this variation, teachers use formative assessment data to identify one to two “must do” stations for each student. They then facilitate a different teacher-led station for each rotation. Then, students can choose one to two “may do” stations. It’s great for preparing students for an end-of-unit assessment or reinforcing key concepts and skills.
