I’ve been sitting on for about a week as I tried to find out more about the Reference Citation Analysis database -and the jury is still out on whether this is a legit organization. I tried to set-up a profile as these three upcoming messages suggest (first one is the one below), but within 12 hours I received this notice under the subject line “RCA ID: 00001812 Reference Citation Analysis notice of rejection of account registration,” which read:

Your credentials for RCA membership have completed careful evaluation by the RCA Editorial Office. However, after several communications via email, your personal information and/or imported articles still do not meet the requirements. I regret to inform you that, at this time, your RCA account registration has been denied. Your RCA ID and personal RCA site will no longer be accessible.

The reasons for denial generally include (1) your registered personal information, including the institution, research keywords, and/or biography not meeting the requirements of RCA and/or not having been updated accordingly on time; (2) your personal photo not having been uploaded and/or not meeting the requirements of RCA; (3) your own articles not having been imported into RCA on time; (4) the imported articles having been wrongly edited and/or not meeting the requirements of RCA; and/or (5) inappropriate articles (by other scholars) having been imported to your RCA registration, followed by a refusal to delete them upon request by RCA Editorial Office.

Anyway, the first of three of these notices from an open scholarship network that may or may not be worth the professional effort.
