AECT 2022 CONVENTION RECORDINGS

AECT’s Board and staff very much appreciate everyone attending our 2022 International Convention in Las Vegas. We realize the convention got off to a rough start for some of our online and hybrid participants due to some problems we were having with our network splash page unexpectedly closing out sessions for online participants compounded by the tight five-minute window needed to move participants from one session to another. With these issues in mind, AECT’s new CEO has asked AECT’s staff to work with All Academic to expand and make available access to all available presentation videos for registered convention participants to the end of the year (December 31, 2022) rather than November 15, 2022 as previously announced.

JTILT SPECIAL ISSUE ON ACCESSIBILITY
|
|
|
The Journal of Technology-Integrated Lessons and Teaching is seeking lessons, activities, and other instructional materials used by educators in P-16+ contexts (and their international equivalents) regarding accessibility. Initial manuscripts are due January 8, 2023 with an expected publication date of June 2023. Visit the journal’s website to read the full announcement.

TIPS AND RESOURCES – MAKING ZOOM MEETINGS ACCESSIBLE FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS
|
|
|
Below is a list of tips and resources to help make Zoom meetings as accessible as possible for all participants, including participants with disabilities. Most functions in Zoom are user-friendly and accessible to people who use assistive technology. There are, however, a few exceptions and best practices.
- Ensure everyone can participate. The polling feature is accessible to people who use assistive technology. Be sure to notify participants verbally when you are launching a poll, provide enough time for participation, and inform participants when the poll will close.
- Avoid side conversations in chat and share links from chat via email or another channel.
- When sharing a screen, verbalize what is on a screen and share materials ahead of the meeting.
- Reduce background noise by muting participants that are not speaking.
- Enable automatic captioning by following this tutorial. (Remember that the accuracy of automatic captions will vary and should not replace human-generated captions or interpreters when requested.)
