Message to our members from the CUE Board of Directors |
CUE’s mission is centered on empowering educators to build the best environments possible to help all students develop as effective learners. |
As a Board, we want to acknowledge that we understand we have been complicit in upholding white supremacy and the exclusion of marginalized voices with our current processes. |
To address this, we will be making concrete steps over the coming months as we move forward. As one step in that direction, we, the Board of Directors, want to intentionally include conference sessions that support anti-racism efforts and lifting up and centering people from historically underrepresented groups. |
For Spring CUE 2023, we have established 11 sessions for this purpose. We are seeking sessions that: |
- Amplify equity, diversity, social justice, and the voices of BIPOC and/or other minoritized/marginalized groups
- Model ways to use educational technology as an antiracist practice
- Include inclusive practices and strategies, such as UDL, SEL, restorative practices, non-punitive outcomes, equitable grading practices, etc.
- Support accessibility, both within the topic presented and the presentation itself
|
The selection process will be as follows: |
Presenters are requested to submit session ideas via Flip. The Board is committed “to ensuring all members’ voices can be part of the discussion, regardless of how they share their voice.” We chose Flip because it will allow potential speakers to express their session idea in the way that works best for them. |
