The AERA 2022 Annual Meeting Call for Submissions is now available on the AERA website. The 2022 AERA Annual Meeting will be held April 22-25 in San Diego, CA. The 2022 Annual Meeting Presidential Program theme is “Cultivating Equitable Education Systems for the 21st Century.” Read more

AERA Participates in WMPD (Women, Minorities, and Persons with Disabilities) Day to Advance Understanding of Diversity in STEM

On May 12, AERA joined the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Consortium of Social Science Associations, the Federation of Associations in Behavioral & Brain Sciences, and Sage Publishing in holding Understanding Diversity in STEM: WMPD Day. Read more

NSF SBE Advisory Committee Highlights National Secure Data Service, Directorate Updates

The National Science Foundation’s Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences Advisory Committee held its spring meeting on May 6–7. The meeting covered a range of topics, including an update on new funding opportunities from SBE; a conversation on broader impacts; and discussion on initiatives SBE is undertaking to address discrimination, bias, and equity. Read More

In Memoriam

AERA members who have recently passed away

Linda McSpadden McNeil, 77, died on April 1. McNeil was professor emeritus at Rice University. She was vice president of Division B-Curriculum Studies, served as editor of the American Educational Research Journal—Social and Institutional Analysis (2000-2003), chaired the AERA/Spencer Doctoral Research Fellowship Program, served as chair of the Division B Annual Meeting Program Committee, and was a member of the Outstanding Book Award Committee. She was also a member of Division G-Social Context of Education. Read more

 

Helen Marie Marks, 83, died on March 20. Marks, who retired as a member of the faculty at the Ohio State University College of Education, was a member of Division A and Division L. Read more

 

Robert B. Ruddell, 83, died on March 14. Ruddell was Professor Emeritus of the Language, Literacy, and Culture Faculty Group at the University of California at Berkeley. Read more
