Impact of Clark & Barbour (2015)

Recently I was asked by over of our chapter authors to see if I could quantify the impact of the book Online and Distance Education in Schools: Global Perspectives on Policy and Practice that Tom Clark and I edited a few years back.  This is what I came up with, which I thought was kind of interesting and wanted to share.

As I indicated to the chapter author that asked us about this information…  While the focus has been a US-based audience, there are substantial efforts to highlight the international aspects of the book.  And based on the sales and wiki traffic data, those efforts have yield reasonable results.  For example, the traffic to the wiki from the United States and Canada was to be expected, but the fact that New Zealand was third on that list in 2015 and 2016 (without a single chapter focused on New Zealand) was interesting.  As was the fact that traffic from China was the second highest country in 2017 and thus far in 2018.  The fact that the Ukraine and Russia were the fourth and fifth highest countries respectively in terms of traffic in 2017, and that Russia and Australia were the third and fifth highest countries respectively in terms of traffic thus far in 2018 (with Canada falling to fourth).  We have actually tried to publicize the book in Canada, New Zealand and Australia; but we have done little in China, the Ukraine, or Russia.
