SITE Interactive 2023 – Building a Hybrid Flexible (HyFlex) Future for All Learners

As you may have seen yesterday, I mentioned that SITE Interactive 2023 was happening and that I had looked through the schedule to find the K-12 distance, online, and blended learning session.  The first one I wanted to blog about was:

Abstract: In this panel presentation, we will discuss how to build and sustain hybrid and flexible (HyFlex) classroom environments within higher education and K-12 spaces. HyFlex education provides students with learning opportunities in-person and asynchronously/synchronously online simultaneously. Specifically, we will explore: -The shifting definition of HyFlex, with a discussion of specific modalities -How to maximize student learning and growth in a HyFlex environment -The technology needed to effectively teach in a HyFlex course modality -HyFlex benefits and challenges -Pedagogical practices and tools that benefit all engagement levels -Examples of successful HyFlex models in both higher education and K-12 environments -Universal Design for Learning and HyFlex -The future directions and long term goals of HyFlex -Resources, recommendations, and case studies to support HyFlex learning Panelists: Dr. Brian Beatty, Professor of Instruction and Technologies in the Department of Equity, Leadership Studies, and Instructional Technologies, San Francisco State University Kenny Hirschmann, Manager, Frankfort Center for Scholarly and Learning Technologies, CUNY Hunter College Dr. Jerusalem Rivera-Wilson, Director of Professional Development & Continuing Education, University at Albany, SUNY Dr. Gina Riley, Program Director & Clinical Professor, Adolescent Special Education, CUNY Hunter College
