Use the images below (or create your own) to share with parents via social media, email, or a parent communication app to encourage them to share their end-of-year insights. (Click on the images below to access and download the shareable graphics.) Concerned about time commitments and constraints? Be sure to keep reading for what we call the ‘take the survey while you wait’ campaign – highlighting times when families will be ‘waiting’ at a school event during the survey window.

Identify time when families will be at your school and use these as an opportunity to share the survey information. Use our templates to make flyers, add to programs, or include in presentation decks being displayed in the halls or at special events. Here are some events to consider using as a promotional time for taking the Speak Up survey: School drop-off or pick-up line (hand out flyers or have QR codes along the lane) End-of-year assemblies (project for all to see as they wait) Any events involving food (have flyers at tables or along where the line forms-tape to floor or walls) School performances and concerts PTA meetings What else comes to your mind?

messaging tips & ideas

Messaging Ideas: Be very clear about the importance of the survey and the importance of participating. Tell parents what’s in it for them. How will teachers incorporate these results into their students’ classroom experiences? How will principals use the information school-wide? If your school or district has participated in Speak Up in the past, provide them with an example of how prior parent feedback aided in change. Messaging Tips: Consider scheduling emails/texts to arrive between 11:00 AM–2:00 PM or 5:00–8:00 PM, during peak times when messages are opened by families. This could greatly increase the levels of engagement in your school survey. The email should be from an actual person, not the school.
