Socializing At A Distance

In online classes at LEARN, we are experts at socializing while physically distanced. Forget 2 metres… some of our students are separated by thousands of kilometres – northwestern Quebec to les Îles de la Madeleine, for example.
Two tools that we use to allow our students to interact and learn about each other, even when in different schools, are Twitter Chats and Forums. Discover some of the archived blog posts from our LEARNers about using Twitter in the classroom on our website.

SWING INTO SPRING SERIES

Learning Opportunities for All

During the past seven weeks, the Provincial Resource Team (PRT) has hosted numerous learning opportunities for families with our Swing into Spring online webinar series. Some sessions were informative like bird identification and spring songbirds with Bird Protection Quebec, while others were about self-care during these challenging times by practicing Laughter Yoga and mindfulness.

There were sessions for parents that focused on practical resources like healthy sleep habits and others that shared tips for parents to help their kids’ with their homework and literacy with Frontier College.

The PRT also collaborated with ELAN to promote their arts-based ArtistsInspire: Interactive Youth and Family Workshops online series. Many of these webinars were recorded and can be accessed on the LEARN website.

FRANÇAIS LANGUE SECONDE

How to Continue Learning
French @ Home

Since the announcement of the government 2 months ago, we had this question: how can we help students (and parents) to continue learning French as a second language at home? The answer was #MissionFLS and French adventures for the little ones!  A team of consultants from LBPSB and LEARN got together to think and create these challenges for the students, a simple and original way for students to continue practicing their French second language skills at home. We developed posters for the month of April and for the month of May. We even expanded some challenges to detailed activities for high school students.
Teachers can now integrate them for teaching online!

Extra-curricular activities happen in online classes too! In April, our students and staff participated in a Twitter Slow Chat to give the students an opportunity to share, engage, and reveal more about their lives outside the classroom. A highlight of our chats is always seeing the students reply to each other and make connections.

Learning During COVID-19 With Online Tutorials & Virtual Campus Courses

An item from a Canadian-based K-12 online and blended learning organization.

A Message from LEARN’s CEO

We are all living through a situation where matters are evolving on a daily basis, and as a result, we must deal with a great deal of uncertainty. For 15 years, LEARN has been serving the English community of Quebec by offering a wide range of services of which many are accessible online including our online tutorials and virtual campus courses. As of Monday, March 23, LEARN Tutoring will resume early to support students from grades 2-11 in the evening.

In addition, we will be working in the coming days with schools and school boards to offer a variety of options for students who wish to continue their studies in various subject areas. All of our services are offered at no charge and we will attempt to be as equitable as possible in the delivery of our services and resources.

LEARN over the years has accumulated extensive experience in the field of online education and received international recognition for the quality and effectiveness of its online methodology.  We will be making our experience and expertise accessible to our community as well.

All of this will require a collaborative effort where we put the interests of our students first, and where we work quickly and decisively.

LEARN is here to support you now and into the future of education we are navigating and building together. Please refer to our website for further information and updates.

Thank you for your continued support and for being a part of the LEARN family.
