COVID‑19 updates: While the University of Wisconsin–Madison is taking steps to reduce the spread of COVID‑19, we still plan to hold the DT&L conference on August 4–6 in Madison, WI as planned. There is also a contingency plan in place, just in case. For the latest, view Continuing Studies COVID‑19 updates.

Registration opens April 14, with COVID contingency plan

The 36th annual Distance Teaching & Learning (DT&L) conference will take place, as planned, August 4–6, 2020. However, we are delaying the first day of registration by one week, to Tuesday, April 14.

If the COVID‑19 pandemic prevents us from hosting an in‑person event, we are prepared to pivot to a fully virtual experience for our attendees. We will follow the guidance of national health officials to keep everyone safe while still providing an engaging and meaningful professional development experience for you — whether you join us virtually or in person. For the latest, visit our COVID‑19 update page.

To make your conference planning easier, we have decided to offer a single, exceptionally discounted registration fee of $495. Register beginning April 14, and decide later whether you’ll attend virtually or in person. You’re covered either way.

If DT&L 2020 does shift to a 100% virtual event, your in‑person registration will automatically convert to a virtual enrollment. We are the Distance Teaching & Learning conference, after all!

Hello!

DT&L Talks: The Quantum Promise for AI in Education
Featuring Ray Schroeder, Associate Vice Chancellor of Online Learning at the University Of Illinois Springfield
Wednesday, February 12th, 1:30p CT / 11:30a PT / 12:30p MT / 2:30p ET

Ray Schroeder will explore how Quantum computing achieved supremacy last fall when a Google quantum computer, Sycamore, outpaced the fastest super computer in the world – Summit housed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Quantum computing driving AI will bring us, finally, to true personalized learning – the holy grail of education. As long as we have had classes of students, the teachers have been confronted with aiming their instruction to the middle of the class, leaving the advanced students bored and the students with deficiencies struggling to get up to speed. As we progress through the decade, we will move closer and closer to individualized and personalized instruction. At last, we will be able to meet students where they are in knowledge, skills and preferences.

Available recordings will be shared and hosted on the DT&L conference web site. Don’t miss your chance to ask questions and contribute to the live discussion. Register now for this FREE webinar.

For questions or concerns, please contact dtl@dcs.wisc.edu.

See you soon,
