NCVPS Inclement Weather And Hurricane Florence Message

Note this weather related notice.

Inclement Weather Notification
Greetings, everyone!
NCVPS has an inclement weather plan and is making preparations for Hurricane Florence, which will likely impact students’ access to their online courses. NCVPS will do the following if the hurricane or inclement weather disrupts school operations:
  • Notify NCVPS teachers of the storm’s impact on North Carolina schools and districts.
  • Ensure that NCPVS teachers have flexible plans for students who cannot access their online courses. Teachers will monitor student logins, remain flexible, and communicate with students about progress and needs.
  • Communicate to districts and students any interruption to services that NCVPS might experience (power outages, access issues, etc.). This information will be provided through our website, email, social media, and in Canvas (our learning management system).
  • Communicate with teachers to determine which teachers have also been affected by any inclement weather.
Districts should be prepared to do the following:
  • Communicate to NCVPS and or NCVPS teacher(s) any school or district closures due to inclement weather. You may open a ticket with our Support Center or email us with your closings. We know it may take a few days to do this as local districts recover from the hurricane’s effects.
  • Notify students of any services that may be interrupted due to inclement weather that may affect NCVPS operations.
Parents and students can do the following:
  • Notify their NCVPS teachers, if possible, if access to courses has been affected due to inclement weather.
  • Communicate with the NCVPS teacher regarding make-up work.
Note that if students have continued access to courses, they may continue working if their situation allows, even if their school is closed.

NCVPS E-lert – Fall Edition IV – September 6, 2018

A US-based K-12 online learning program’s newsletter from Thursday’s inbox.

Fall Edition IV
September 6, 2018
Greetings, everyone!
Our Day-7 No-Show Report is posted in our registration system. This is the final report showing student progress before our Monday, Sept. 10, drop/add deadline. Please check the report to see if you have any students who have not logged in. They may need assistance to get started or they may need to be dropped beforeSept 10. You can withdraw students throughout the semester, but after Sept. 10, those enrollments will still count in your allotment totals.
We hired an additional AP Computer Science Principles teacher and have opened a new section if you have interested students. Registration is open through Monday.
We still have a few districts that prevent emails from outside their districts from reaching their students. Please see the note below on NCVPS Emails Blocked for a quick and easy resolution.
After Sept. 10, we will still have a number of enrollment options. See the section on Enrollment Options After Sept. 10 below.
See the details on all these items and more below.

OCS and Co-Teaching Registration
Please use the checklist below to ensure that all required steps have been completed by your school. The information below applies to OCS and NC Math 1 Intervention Co-Teaching courses.
Step #1: Enroll students in the NCVPS Registration System. You may find it helpful to reference the OCS Learning Page on our website.
Step #2: Complete the Classroom Teacher Designation Form. This form was sent to the ELA contact listed in the registration system for your school. Check with this person if you are the face-to-Face (F2f) classroom teacher to see if they have received it and submitted. Anyone at your school can complete this form. Each school will be asked to provide school contact and classroom teacher info.
Your school’s section will not be assigned an online partner and access will not be granted to students or teachers until this form has been submitted. Please allow 24 – 72 hours to process your submission, the assignment, and access process.
Step #3: Classroom teachers should review the Teacher Handbook and complete the survey at the end.
Step #4: If all of the above steps have been completed and your classroom teacher has not gained access within 72 hours, then please submit a ticket via the NCVPS Virtual Support Center.
