With Term 4 well under way, we want to take this opportunity to provide you with new digital fluency focused experiences and resources that can support you for the remainder of 2022 and into 2023.

If you are looking for some end of year inspiration GCSN is excited to be launching two new PLD opportunities in partnership with Emma Planicka from Digital Learning PLD. These sessions, held later this month, are designed for kaiako and are all about utilising digital technologies in innovative and creative ways to promote digital fluency.

GCSN x Digital Learning PLD
GCSN is excited to be launching two new digital fluency focused PLD sessions which are perfect for wrapping up 2022 and launching into 2023!
Created and delivered by Emma Planicka from Digital Learning PLD these sessions provide kaiako with an opportunity to learn more about digital art and utilising Google apps in new and creative ways.Learn more about these sessions below and register here.

With a focus on creating amazing digital art and building digital fluency with iPad, come along and have a go with hands on fun ideas and learning you can take straight back to the classroom to share with ākonga!
Explore Keynote animations, create digital art and also the best Secret Santa Rap with GarageBand, just in time for Christmas!This workshop will include:

  • Exploring Keynote animations and the fabulous tools, and deep diving into Sketches School.
  • Create an animated eCard.
  • Get funky making an eSecret Santa Rap utilising GarageBand and Clips.
  • Explore resources and ideas to integrate these create apps across the curriculum.
  • Come away with amazing exemplars, resources and confidence to integrate new learning straight away.
  • Have the best Secret Santa gift yet!
With a focus on gathering tips, tricks, ideas and resources to fill your digital kete, develop confidence, and get excited about creating an engaging programme for 2023! You will leave this workshop armed and ready to explore a bunch of creative digital tools, getting innovative with all things Google, and more!

This workshop will include:

  • Hands on fun, practical ideas and useful resources to take away and explore across the curriculum.
  • Building Whanaungatanga through create apps and activities to weave into your programme engaging ākonga while having fun, connecting and building relationships.
  • Digital art to start 2023 with a bang!
  • Setting up for success by building digital fluency and good routines!
  • Exploring all things Google as well as some additional tried and true create tools.
  • Come away with amazing exemplars and confidence to integrate, explore and get excited for 2023!

Manaiakalani Class OnAir
Manaiakalani is a cluster of 13 schools in the Tāmaki community. They have partnered with the Manaiakalani Trust, Google and other providers to seek improved education outcomes.  Manaiakalani Class OnAir allows you to explore their teaching and learning approach.Access Manaiakalani Class OnAir here.

Screen Time Guide for Parents 

This report was developed by MyVision, a digital resource which provides trusted information about eye health and vision. It explores the negative effects of extended screen time on the eyes, minds, and bodies of rangatahi, provides practical advice about screen time limits by age, and digital literacy education.

The Grow Waitaha 2022 Canterbury DigiAwards empower primary and intermediate students across to design, develop, and showcase their digital projects as a way to unleash and acknowledge their digital creativity.
