GSA WEBINAR: DESIGN GUIDELINES FOR DIVERSE MAKERSPACES

AECT’s Graduate Student Assembly invites you to join us on August 22nd at 3 pm EDT for a webinar “Design and Research Guidelines for Diverse Makerspaces.” Learn from four experts who have designed and conducted extensive research on makerspaces. They will share experiences from their projects, and insights on different types of makerspaces in a variety of contexts, as well as how research can inform the design of makerspaces. Come learn about the benefits makerspaces have for education, how to design makerspaces for a specific audience, how to assess learning in these environments, and how to address the challenges that come with makerspaces. We hope you can join us!

Panelists:
* Dr. Jennifer Weible (Central Michigan University)
* Dr. Gabriella Richard (Penn State University)
* Dr. Xun Ge (University of Oklahoma)
* Mr. Will Ashley (Coast Episcopal School)

Are you exploring the use of virtual reality (VR) to support learning? Consider submitting your manuscript to the International Journal of Smart Technology and Learning . For this special issue we define VR as any technology that provides its users with an interactive computer-generated experience through text, audio, visual, spatial and/or speed messages within a simulated environment that engages its users in multi-sensory interactions and reactions for learning. By this definition, augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), hybrid reality and extended reality (XR) are included. Initial proposal submissions are due by September 15, 2019. Additional submission information and notes for authors can be found at http://bit.ly/2IzoPk6 . Questions can be directed to guest co-editors Charles Xiaoxue Wang, xxwang@fgcu.edu or Michele Stork,mistork@fgcu.edu.
