[L_OSBC_Announce] Celebrating 100 Years Of Distance Education

Note this announcement from a Canadian-based K-12 distance education program.

I invite you to share this with your friends and colleagues.

Thank you,
Michael Cochrane
Open School BC

It is 2019 and Open School BC is celebrating a century of work in distributed learning.

Founded in 1919 as the British Columbia Correspondence Program, we first offered printed courses to students in rural settings. 100 years later, we offer online courses, educational services and resources for both public and independent schools, as well as the public sector. The delivery of educational materials may have changed, but our goal is still the same: supporting learners and teachers with high quality resources whether it’s in the classroom, at home or in the office.

Keeping pace with technological and societal shifts, distributed learning has evolved over the past century. As we showcase our history, we will look fondly at the events, images and stories that shaped our past… and reflecting on how we will meet the educational needs of British Columbians for the next 100 years.

We invite you to explore with us as we dip into the Open School BC archives. We’ll bring you stories and snippets from our history, and then share our evolution into the creative and skilled team that makes up the modern Open School BC. We’ll finish the year with a look to the future and share some of the exciting projects we have in development.

Here’s to another century of learning.

Thank you,
Michael Cochrane
