The purpose of each weekly issue is to provide information and to engage members in the diverse opportunities and activities of your association.

 

AECT 2018 ELECTION. The AECT 2018 Election has concluded and join with the AECT Leadership in congratulating Dr. Michael Grant for becoming the next President-Elect. We also want to thank and congratulate the other 48 AECT members who were elected to leadership positions.

 

SRS CALL FOR PAPERS DEADLINE IS MARCH 15. The 2018 Summer Research Symposium – A New Focus for Learning: Educational Technology Beyond Content will be held at the Indiana University Student Memorial Union & Biddle Hotel, Bloomington, Indiana, July 16-17, 2018. The Call for Papers can be found here, submission deadline is March 15, 2018. Hotel reservations can be made by calling the IMU Biddle Hotel at 800-209-8145 and use the Block Code AECT2018.

JSET-AECT 2018 IRS. You are invited to be part of the 2018 JSET-AECT Summer International Research Symposium – Designing Learning Environments for Creativity: Space, Activity, and Community. Symposium dates are September 7-9, 2018 in Hokkido, Japan. Information about the program, keynote speakers, registration and contact information is available here.

 

LDC WEBINARS. The Leadership Development Committee, in conjunction with the Graduate Student Assembly, is providing a webinar series on the AECT Leadership Development Internship Program. Webinars range in length from 30-60 minutes and are hosted throughout the month of March via Zoom. The purpose of the webinars is to provide accurate information to interested, potential intern candidates while also providing a platform through which past AECT Interns may reflect and share their unique experiences as an AECT Intern. The webinars will function similarly to a panel discussion and will include questions from the audience. Webinar dates and times are: Friday March 16th (12-1 pm EST and 3-4 pm EST), and Friday March 30th (4-5 pm EST). Please join us via Zoom at https://zoom.us/j/915989452. We hope to see you there!

LEARNER ENGAGEMENT SIG WEBINAR SERIES. Join us for our webinar, Mistaking Disenchantment for Truth: How Do We Measure Learner Engagement? presented by Tonia Dousay, Assistant Professor of Learning Sciences, University of Idaho, March 20th, 12:00 – 1:00 PM ET. The session is free to attend, but preregistration is required. Please register here.

 

CALL FOR REVIEWERS. Educational Technology Research & Development (ETR&D) is seeking additional qualified reviewers due to record levels of submissions. We invite you to join our family of reviewers. Please refer to the ETR&D homepage for details of qualifications, responsibilities, and benefits of being an ETR&D reviewer. Interested persons should contact Assistant Editors, Dr. Gloria Natividad or Dr. Hale Ilgaz, who will send qualified persons sample reviews, request your areas of interest and expertise, and help you register as reviewers. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or suggestions for ETR&D. The Editorship Team: Tristan E. Johnson (Research Section), Lin Lin (Development Section), and Patricia A. Young (Cultural and Regional Perspectives).

 

CALL FOR DDL AWARD NOMINATIONS. The 2018 Call for Award Nominations sponsored by the Division of Distance Learning is now open. More information about each award, evaluation criteria and how to submit can be found here. Deadline is April 1, 2018.

CALL FOR DDL AWARD REVIEWERS. The Division of Distance Learning is looking for volunteers to review award submissions. If you are able to help, please complete this formby March 15, 2018. The review process will take place between April 1 and May 31. More information about the DDL Awards can be found here.

GSA LOGO COMPETITION. The AECT Graduate Student Assembly invites submissions for the GSA Logo Competition. The logo should capture the essence of GSA within AECT. GSA strives to support graduate students’ transition into the educational technology field through professional development, networking, and community engagement. Grand prize: $100. Deadline for submissions: April 15, 2018 by 11:59 pm. Applicants should submit designs to: https://tinyurl.com/yacxqj9r. More information can be found here. SMT LOGO COMPETITION. The School Media and Technology Division is having a logo contest, and we hope you’ll consider entering!
