EDTECH537 – Video Entry: All About Online School

As I mentioned in the Week 7 post for my EDTECH537 – Blogging In The Classroom students, this week students can post two entries of any type.  As a sample today, I am posting a video entry.  This video is from some kid who apparently goes to a full-time online school.  In fact, all I did was search on YouTube for K-12 online learning and there were a lot of these kinds of videos there; which actually struck me as interesting in and of itself.  Anyway…

  1. Interesting video. It sses the auto captioning feature and in the first 5 minutes of the video I only saw one error. Of course there was no punctuation, but then I don’t know just how you’d punctuate that ramble. As I’ve warned before, Google claims to have a 50-75% accuracy rate for autocaptioning, but on this video it looks like it may be closer to 99%. Content does make a difference. The fact that the link goes to another site doesn’t mean there’s no obligation to ensure accessibility, but in this case, I’d say the link passes the basic accessibility captioning requirement.

    • Yeah, I actually have been checking the CC on the videos and I thought the same thing about the punctuation when I watched this one… I thought what she had to say about Connections and K12, Inc. and how they were different in her eyes, was quite interesting.
