Jönköping, Sweden 13-16 June 2017



jkpgThe conference is hosted by the Jönköping University in co-operation with Destination Jönköping and SADE, the Swedish Association for Open and Distance Learning and supported by the Jönköping City Council.

Registration is open

The EDEN Secretariat is taking care of the registration for the Annual Conference. The registration fee includes access to all conference facilities, the electronic Conference Proceedings, the Welcome Cocktail, lunches and refreshments during the conference days. The fee does not include accommodation and the conference dinner.register

Detailed conference programme available

                        booklet coverThe Conference programme includes plenaries, parallel sessions with paper presentations, workshops, trainings, moderated poster and demo sessions and the synergy strand, ensuring digital interactivity and cooperation on the social web.

The event starts on Tuesday afternoon on 13 June, with registration, followed by the Welcome Reception and ends with a Farewell Coffee on 16 June.

Synergy sessions – envision your research and project plans with the expert community

“Synergy” – a unique feature of the EDEN conferences incorporating interactive, network building sessions always offers outstandingly rich portfolio of projects and initiatives will feature again in Jönköping.


Critical thinking, online higher education observatory, digital democracy, open badges, mobile apps for self-regulated learning, e-schools, decision making at universities, MOOCs for the business world – some of the themes which will be steering these sessions, dedicated to interactive knowledge sharing, networking to inspire project ideas and partnerships, to support sustainability of projects.

New plenary speaker joins the conference

Willem van Valkenburg

andreiaManager of Production and Delivery at TU Delft Extension School, Member of the Board of Directors of the Open Education Consortium

He is part of the leadership of the TU Delft Extension School. He is responsible for the production and delivery of OpenCourseWare, DelftX MOOCs, online Professional Education and online BSc and MSc programmes.

He has been a part of the Open Education Consortium since 2008. First as assistant of former president Anka Mulder and since 2013 as a board member of the Consortium. He holds a Master of Science in System Engineering, Policy Analysis and Management of Delft University of Technology. Learn more about him here.

He will be giving a Report on the “Year of Open” at the closing plenary session.

that your papers, posters and training submissions are not only subjected to the conference evaluators’ thorough assessment, but could also win one of EDEN’s prestigious awards. We are keen to promote and inspire professionals by recognising excellence and will continue the tradition of distinguishing Best Papers and Best Practice Initiatives. The conference participants can also make their voices heard – they will be able to vote on their favourite posters on display – the poster earning the highest number of votes will receive the conference’s Poster Prize. Everybody who has an accepted submission for presentation will receive a Speaker badge and all conference participants will be awarded a Participant badge.

Did you notice?

The European Commission has just announced their renewed policy plans for the modernisation of higher education. As Georgi Dimitrov, Deputy Head of the Unit on Innovation in Education and the EIT, and a policy expert in this area, will attend the EDEN 2017 Annual Conference as a keynote speaker we hope to get first hand relevant information on this in good time.
