NEW CALL FOR ETS V2 PROPOSALS. Do you have a passion for a new technology or tech ‘toys’ with promise for learning? Do you want to have a little fun while learning about the most novel new learning technologies exciting AECT members? Planners have tweaked the design of the Emerging Technology Showcase so that AECT Jacksonville Convention participants can access their practitioner’s side to think about, meet and question over 60 hot-tech advocates hosting many roundtables in two large sessions! SUMMER 2017. Registration is now available for the 2017 Summer Journal Symposium and Summer Board & Leadership Meeting which will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Jacksonville, Florida, July 22-25. Details regarding registration and hotel reservation are available on the AECT website.

EARLY-BIRD REGISTRATION. The 2017 AECT International Convention early-bird registration is still available. Member registrations and nonmember registrations can save $150. Deadline is May 31, 2017. See the AECT website for registration and hotel information.

TECH TRENDS SPECIAL ISSUE CALL FOR PAPERS. This special issue ofTechTrends will focus on the intersections and synthesis of culture, learning, and technology, with particular emphases on issues of equity and inclusion in technology-mediated environments. We are looking for original papers that deeply consider and address all three of these factors – culture, learning, and technology. If you are interested in submitting a paper, please provide a brief abstract by May 15, 2017.  Submit abstracts via this google form. Additional information can be found here.

ETR&D CALL FOR SPECIAL ISSUE PROPOSALS. Educational Technology Research & Development typically has one special issue each year. The two major sections of the journal alternate in managing that process. The Development Section will manage the special issue to be published in 2018. This is an initial call for proposals. A proposal should contain the names, CVs, and contact information of guest editor(s), the title of the special issue, the focus, scope and rationale for the special issue, and likely authors and/or a process for recruiting authors who can deliver good papers in a few months.  Deadline is April 30, 2017 and proposals should be sent to Mike.Spector@unt.edu. AECT DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT COMPETITION. We are pleased to announce the 2017 AECT Design and Development Competition for promising instructional design research by graduate students working with mentors in the Design and Development Division. AECT is specifically interested in promoting collaboration and mentoring within the professional community. Review the guidelines and the 2017 Problem Statement to prepare your Team’s Submission. Deadline May 5, 2017.

AECT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS. The AECT Leadership Development Committee is excited to invite applications for the Leadership Internship Program to coincide with the 2017 AECT Convention in Jacksonville, FL. We need your help to identify and recognize outstanding individuals with leadership potential in educational technology and in the broader field. Details and submission information can be found here. The deadline is June 5, 2017.
