EITT2017. Educational Innovation Through Technology, founded at Tsinghua University and sponsored by the Society of International Chinese in Educational Technology (SICET), invites your participation, December 7-9, 2017, in Osaka, Japan. With the theme of Innovation through Creativity, Connectivity, and Culture, this international forum welcomes original papers from technology and education. Accepted papers will be published through IEEE CPS and will be indexed through Ei (Compendex). Paper abstract registration due May 8, 2017. More information available at

ACM SEEKS NEW EDITOR. The Association for Computing Machinery’s Education Technology online magazine, eLearn, is in search of a new Editor-in-Chief (currently held by Ali Carr-Chellman). You’re encouraged to apply. The full announcement including duties and more can be found here.

ETR&D CALL FOR SPECIAL ISSUE PROPOSALS. Educational Technology Research & Development typically has one special issue each year. The two major sections of the journal alternate in managing that process. The Development Section will manage the special issue to be published in 2018. This is an initial call for proposals. A proposal should contain the names, CVs, and contact information of guest editor(s), the title of the special issue, the focus, scope and rationale for the special issue, and likely authors and/or a process for recruiting authors who can deliver good papers in a few months.  Deadline is April 30, 2017 and proposals should be sent to Please see the complete call for full details.

AECT DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT COMPETITION. We are pleased to announce the 2017 AECT Design and Development Competition for promising instructional design research by graduate students working with mentors in the Design and Development Division. AECT is specifically interested in promoting collaboration and mentoring within the professional community. Review the guidelines and the 2017 Problem Statement to prepare your Team’s Submission.
