jkpgThe conference is hosted by the Jönköping University in co-operation with Destination Jönköping and SADE, the Swedish Association for Open and Distance Learning and supported by the Jönköping City Council.

Registration is open

The EDEN Secretariat is taking care of the registration for the Annual Conference. The registration fee includes access to all conference facilities, the electronic Conference Proceedings, the Welcome Cocktail, lunches and refreshments during the conference days. The fee does not include accommodation and the conference dinner.

registerAuthors of contributions accepted for presentation can benefit from a reduced fee. For each paper, only one reduced author’s fee will be offered. For more information on fees and discounts, visit the Conference Registration page.

The Call is closed now, evaluations will finish in the next few days. With eventual late submission requests please contact the Conference Secretariat directly. Synergy and Training submissions are awaited until end of April.

New keynote speaker joins the conference

Andreia Inamorato dos Santos

andreiaScientific Officer, ICT for Learning, Skills and OER, Human Capital and Employment Unit, European Commission, DG Joint Research Centre (JRC)

Andreia joined the JRC in September 2013. Her role involves research and policy support on ‘ICT for Learning, Skills and Open Educational Resources (OER)’. Her work contributes to finding opportunities and challenges of ICT and OER implementation at a policy level to innovate and modernise teaching, learning and training practices in Europe. Learn more about her here.

Her contribution will feature in a special session with the most interesting OER papers presented.

The Welcome Reception will take place in the assembly hall of the School of Education and Communication (building H) at Jönköping University. At the reception you can start preparing yourself at the event.

Meet the EDEN fellows, Board and NAP members, Secretariat staff who can help you to find out best how to exploit the event. The pleasant surroundings will ensure inspiration for intellectual exploration dialogue learning-partnerships and collaboration. The EDEN Fellow Awards and Young Scholar Awards will be presented during the reception.

EDEN continues the tradition of the Book and Wine event: at the end of the first day (14 June) the lovers of literature and good wines share their latest interesting reading experience through short presentations in the Orangerie of the University.

Please contact the conference secretariat if you are interested to join as speaker. Everyone is welcome to listen and discuss over a glass of wine!

Conference Dinner

The venue of the Conference Dinner will be the classical style Elite Stora Hotellet, one of the most beautiful buildings in Jönköping and with a central location along the southern shore of Lake Vättern.

Jönköping’s walking street passes right by the hotel, putting guests right in the midst of the city’s shopping, attractions and nightlife. Elite Stora Hotellet was built in the mid 1800’s and has been painstakingly renovated. Much of the hotel has been preserved in its original glory, including the Hall of Mirrors, which is one of Scandinavia’s most beautiful banquet halls.

that your papers, posters and training submissions are not only subjected to the conference evaluators’ thorough assessment, but could also win one of EDEN’s prestigious awards. We are keen to promote and inspire professionals by recognising excellence and will continue the tradition of distinguishing Best Papers and Best Practice Initiatives. The conference participants can also make their voices heard – they will be able to vote on their favourite posters on display – the poster earning the highest number of votes will receive the conference’s Poster Prize. Everybody who has an accepted submission for presentation will receive a Speaker badge and all conference participants will be awarded a Participant badge.

Get inspired by the Young Scholar Award winners of 2016

The award to young scholars has been offered at our Annual Conferences and Research Workshops since it’s intorduction in 2014 in Oxford thanks to the Ulrich Bernath Foundation and the Oldenburg University.

Last year’s Young Scholar Award winners at the EDEN 2016 Annual Conference in Budapest were Ágnes Gaul-Ács from KAPTÁR Visual Arts Workshop and Archive, Hungary for her paper on Digital Creativity for Net Generation Students: Retooling the Art and Design Environment at School andDávid Sík from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Hungary for his paper on Use of Big Data in Education Efficiency Analysis.

At the 9th EDEN Research Workshop, the award was granted to Elisa Bruhn, for the conference paper “Towards a Framework for Virtual Internationalization”, Antonia Bralić for the conference paper “Use of moocs in traditional classroom: Blended learning approach”, Shaiffadzillah Omarali for the conference paper “Investigating the Effectiveness of the ‘Online Learner Profiling Questionnaire’ in Generating a Profile of Learners Based on Learner Dispositions: a Pilot Study” and Kristie Naidoo for the conference paper “Integration of Learning Analytics in Blended Learning Course at a University of Technology”

Conference programme

The Conference programme includes plenaries, parallel sessions with paper presentations, workshops, trainings, moderated poster and demo sessions and the synergy strand, ensuring digital interactivity and cooperation on the social web.

The event starts on Tuesday afternoon on 13 June, with registration, followed by the Welcome Reception and ends with a Farewell Coffee on 16 June.

The European Commission has just announced their renewed policy plans for the modernisation of higher education. As Georgi Dimitrov, Deputy Head of the Unit on Innovation in Education and the EIT, and a policy expert in this area, will attend the EDEN 2017 Annual Conference as a keynote speaker we hope to get first hand relevant information on this in good time.

Visit the world’s only Match Museum

Jönköping was known for its matchstick industry between 1845-1970. The Match Musem in Jönköping is the world’s only. It is located in the beautiful building that once was the first match factory in Jönköping.

In the museum, living match history is told. Encounter the people and machines that built up the match industy and developed it into a global operation. You will find an exciting film and thousands of matchboxes and labels.
