iNACOL Releases Promising State Policies to Advance Personalized Learning

With the passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) in December 2015, states have a historic opportunity to create policy flexibility to enable powerful, personalized learning experiences for all students. State policymakers can expand personalized learning for students by creating enabling policy environments that allow personalized learning to flourish.

Recently, iNACOL released the report Promising State Policies for Personalized Learning, which provides state policy exemplars for leaders seeking to enable personalized learning in K-12 education. Today, iNACOL released an executive summary of this report to highlight state policies along a continuum of key policy recommendations. Together, the executive summaryand full report are useful tools for state policymakers and advocates seeking to advance personalized learning in K-12 education.

Whether policymakers are getting started with innovation zones, moving forward with initiatives such as proficiency-based diplomas, or advancing comprehensive statewide policy to support personalized learning, this a valuable resource for state policymakers creating supportive state policy environments for K-12 personalized learning.
