3-MINUTE THESIS COMPETITION. The AECT Graduate Student Assembly (GSA) will again host a research communication competition at the AECT International Convention this October in Las Vegas. For details and to register, click here. The registration deadline is September 1, 2016.

SYMPOSIUM OPPORTUNITY. The 2016 AECT Early Career Symposium sponsored by the National Science Foundation is now accepting applications. The symposium will reimburse each participant $350 for transportation, two nights at the convention hotel, and the convention registration fee. Click on the link for more information. The deadline is September 2, 2016.

PROCEEDINGS SUBMISSIONS SOUGHT. All sessions accepted for presentation at the AECT International Convention are eligible for consideration for publication in the Proceedings. Proceedings submissions are due by September 30, 2016, to: Michael R. Simonson, Editor. See the website for details and contact information.

NEW BOOK. Women’s Voices in the Field of Educational Technology: Our Journeys,edited by Ana Donaldson, is new from Springer. Women from around the world were asked to contribute to this volume, giving their perspectives on swimming in the “good old boy” stream to find recognition in our field. Contributors discuss their lives and the people who made a difference in their professional journeys.

CALL FOR NOMINEES. Candidates are sought for the position of AECT Executive Secretary. Please nominate an AECT member whom you have personally contacted and who has agreed to stand for this position. Only two nominees will be chosen by the AECT Nominating Committee as candidates. Nominations should be sent to Rob Branch (Chairperson of the AECT Nominating Committee) at byFriday, 9 September 2016. The AECT Executive Secretary will be involved in the decision-making processes of the Association with regard to program development and internal-external relations, but primarily serves in the role of records management. The elected Executive Secretary will serve a three-year term, from October 2017 to October 2020.
