FLANZ Conversation: Talking with Bill Anderson

FLANZ members are invited to the next FLANZ Conversation which is scheduled for

Wednesday September 7th from 12.30-1.30pm

with Bill Anderson. Bill led a workshop on the topic of this Conversation at the DEANZ2016 conference earlier this year.

Good teaching is a mix of both art and science. This FLANZ conversation focuses on the science part of the mix, drawing on Diana Laurillard’s ideas of teaching as a design science. It’s a science that enables teachers to construct the design knowledge of teaching practice and thus build on and improve – and share – the principles and patterns that underpin practice. In this Conversation we’ll hopefully have time to do the following: explore the framework that Laurillard uses as the basis for these ideas;  talk about how teachers’ use of digital technologies relates to this framework; and, consider a tool that helps teachers make explicit their pedagogic practice so that it may be understood and shared.

Bill will start the Conversation by briefly reviewing the framework Laurillard uses and will subsequently introduce the CRAM tool, but the focus will be on discussing the ideas with each other. You are invited to email Bill ( with questions prior to the Conversation.

Register, and join in.
To join in the conversation fill in this form by midday Friday 2 September, expressing your wish to participate in the FLANZ Conversation with Bill Anderson. You will then be sent the Zoom online meeting address, plus instructions about joining a Zoom meeting.

I look forward to joining you in the conversation.
