On Wednesday, April 27, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. ET, the International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL) is hosting a Leadership webinarexploring next steps under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). This new federal K-12 education law, enacted in December 2015, provides a historic opportunity for states and localities to shape the future of K-12 education.
ESSA gives states increased flexibility over assessment, accountability and use of funding. This represents a marked shift in federal control to states, presenting state and local stakeholders with an important opportunity to redefine what student success looks like and the goals of our nation’s education system.
In this webinar, Susan Patrick and Lillian Pace will identify key themes in ESSA, provide an overview of the implementation timeline and highlight opportunities for advancing personalized learning and competency education. The discussion will focus specifically on critical next steps for state and local leaders as well as strategies for maintaining the law’s fundamental commitment to equity for all students. Participants will learn how to leverage these opportunities in this important crossroads for U.S. K-12 education.
