N.C. district plans to invest Race to the Top funds in tablets
A North Carolina school district that is one of 16 winners in the latest round of the Race to the Top competition has announced it will use its $30 million grant to provide tablet computers for middle-school students. Officials say they also intend to hire new technology coordinators and provide additional training. “This technology, which will combine textbook information and Internet resources in one place, will literally put the world at our students’ fingertips,” superintendent Maurice Green said.
