Earlier this month I posted an entry entitled Announcing the PHD 2-minute Thesis Contest! (Virtual Schooling Edition). Essentially, PhD Comics have asked people to create a two minute video to describe their thesis or dissertation in pedestrian language. The winning entry will get their thesis or dissertation immortalized in a PhD Comic.
In the earlier entry, I challenged my K-12 online learning colleagues who have completed a thesis or dissertation to take part in this challenge and I would post all of the results here on this blog. As a way to throw down the gauntlet even more, I present to you my submission.
For those interested in this study, you can actually read the full dissertation at http://www.michaelbarbour.com/research/pubs/phd_2007.pdf
Very interesting thesis! On a side note: the high school next door removed all pre-requisites for enrolling in AP. It has been interesting!

Thanks Liz! I should note that the vast majority of schools where I did my dissertation don’t offer AP at all. 50% of the schools have less than 200 students and 25% have less that 100 students. Electives like AP aren’t generally considered when you’re struggling to provide a full range of required courses.
Having said that, I suspect the school next door will see their AP enrollment increase and their AP performance decrease. Depending on how your state treats AP courses for AYP, that may actually help the school.

What are you using for playing your audio? I like the way it looks. BTW, right now it is saying: “file not found”

Actually, it says that I have exceeded my bandwidth for the month (as I use the free hosting from Doteasy, I have a limited amount of bandwidth each month). Thanks for the heads up, I’ll have to explore other options to host the podcasts.

Emma, I fixed that problem yesterday – unless you’re accessing it directly from an earlier version in your RSS reader. Now the link to my actual dissertation will be down until the end of the month, as I exceeded my bandwidth for July 2012. But it should be good to go on 01 August.
