Promoting Data Literacy Through Coding Events – Hackathons

Another notice for my colleagues in British Columbia…

The countless hours kids spend web surfing, social networking, gaming and programming has helped them to develop sophisticated technology skills and become seriously tech-savvy.

Help kids realize their full potential, raise data literacy and create unique solutions by planning/promoting/hosting a hackathon of full-day challenges and all kinds of DIY and maker workshops with circuits, 3D printing, everything interesting and hands-on, where kids can hack-on with their parents!
A “how-to” document has been compiled to support librarians, school staff, and youth themselves who want to promote data literacy through coding events – hackathons.
