For a post-AERA item…  This is a limited call, as the journal has a specific geographic focus (i.e., Newfoundland and Labrador). So any submissions should be specifically focused on that geographic jurisdiction.

Introduction

Today’s changing education landscape is making way for K-12 online and blended teaching and learning in partnership with K-12 virtual schools and other educational agencies, which has the potential to transform the education system. For this special issue, the co-editors are looking for articles that share ideas on teacher education programs rethinking curriculum when it comes to preparing future and current teachers for these new learning environments. An important emphasis for this special issue is on learning about and defining new strategies for online and blended teaching and learning through K-12 virtual schools and other educational agencies so that teacher education programs can prepare future and current teachers to facilitate, support, motivate, engage, and challenge their students.

Recommended topics include but are not limited to the following

  • Instructional strategies (co-teaching, team-teaching, and cross-curricular)

Tentative Timeline

3/25/13 – 6/30/13 – Call for Papers
6/30/13 - Deadline for paper submission
7/1/13 – 7/31/13 – Papers under double blind review
8/1/13 – 8/31/13 - Guest editors review the feedback given by reviewers and ready notification emails for authors
9/1/13 – Authors will be notified and sent feedback as well as a timeline for final submission
9/30/13 – Final drafts of papers due
10/1/13 – 10/31/13 – Guest editors ready papers prior to submitting them for copyediting and proofing
11/1/13 – 11/30/13 – Accepted authors review proofs
12/1/13 – Final preparations for publication

Papers will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.

In order to make more people aware of your research achievements, we sincerely invite you to submit a new research paper to the International Journal of Online Pedagogy and Course Design (IJOPCD).

The mission of the International Journal of Online Pedagogy and Course Design (IJOPCD) is to provide a platform for the latest research, analysis, and development of online education, effective online teaching methods, and course design. IJOPCD covers the pedagogical design aspects of science education and computing education, as well as courses supported by educational technologies. Targeting academic researchers and educators who work in the field, this journal focuses on the importance of developments in online course design and teaching methods to improve teachers’ teaching and students’ learning. Call for Contributions

Underpinning the conference theme, “The Joy of Learning”, the EDEN 2013 Annual Conference will include paper presentations, interactive workshops often blended with webinars, on-the-spot poster sessions with visualised practices and project presentations in form of short demonstrations.

Contributions should relate to the conference themes. The Call is open until 5 February. Submissions will be double peer reviewed and accepted contributions published in the electronic Conference Proceedings with ISBN and their summary in the printed Book of Abstracts.

Keynote Speakers

Prof. Sugata Mitra is Professor of Educational Technology at the School of Education, Communication and Language Sciences at Newcastle University, UK. He is best known for his “Hole in the Wall” experiment.

Anne Kirah is Senior Design and Innovation Anthropologist of Steria, Norway. She served previously as a design anthropologist for MSN, intended to influence software and service designs to improve humans’ interaction with technology.

Dr. Bernard Luskin, President-Elect for the American Psychological Association (APA) Media Psychology Division is widely known for his major study ‘Media Psychology and New Technology’.

Ana Carla Pereira, Head of Unit for Skills and Qualifications, Commission Directorate-General Education and Culture will talk about the developments with the European Union new generation education programmes.

Our Norwegian hosts invited a high level representative of the Norwegian Nobel Committee to speak.

The Nordic Voice
Distance education has been an important part of adult education in the Nordic countries for the last hundred years. Today, in Scandinavia, online education with advanced digital learning resources are widely accessible. A best practice presentation from all the Nordic countries will take place.

Online and Social

The Conference will be supported and accompanied intensively by social networking, sharing, online and virtual presence and involvement possibilities. You are invited to share on Twitter, Facebook, Slideshare and Youtube. The conference hashtag is #EDENOslo. A curated Conference news service is collecting related information via it’s Scoop.it account.

The EDEN Oslo Facebook group is already active.

E-learning, open and distance education have been important fields of intellectual excitement and innovative development. Challenges posed by the new technologies are permanent, and students constantly keep teachers under pressure to develop. Individual and collective motivation, enhancement of the learning experience and overall improvement of learning quality are gaining ever-increasing traction.

How can we do our best to make learning a thrilling experience for learners, including providing a sense of joy in the virtual classroom?
The EDEN 2013 Conference will discover and present the latest best practice in this field, share progressive concepts, inventive solutions, and promote joint-thinking and collaboration.

The conference will take place at the University of Oslo, campus Blindern, Georg Sverdrup Building. This building was inaugurated in 1999, and houses the humanities and social sciences library.
