Every year in the United States, the first full week of May is devoted to showing teachers how much they mean. National Teacher Appreciation Week is a time for students to let their teachers know how much they impact student success.

AOA’s elementary teachers have selected a group of eight exceptional students to participate in an elementary leadership group. The chosen leaders plan to mentor their peers during virtual, student-led classes.

For their spring service project, the Alpha Omega Academy chapter of the National Honor Society voted to write letters to members of the armed forces serving overseas.

Virtual Graduation Ceremony
Celebrate with the Class of 2013 via web stream! Watch AOA’s live virtual graduation ceremony on Friday, May 24 at 2 p.m. (CT).
Teacher In-Service May 24
AOA will close at noon on May 24 for the 2013 virtual graduation ceremony. Academic support from instructors will not be available that afternoon, so please plan accordingly.
Upcoming ACT and SAT Testing Dates
Juniors and seniors interested in taking the ACT on June 8 must register for the exam by May 17. A late fee will apply. Late registrations for the June 1 SAT are accepted until May 22. These are the final testing dates for the 2012-2013 academic year.
May Social Event
April showers bring May flowers, and May flowers bring picnics! AOA students in grades 7-12 are invited to attend the virtual Picturesque Picnic Party on Friday, May 31. Grab some watermelon and get ready to have some fun! Keep an eye on the weekly online classroom email for more information.
Exceptional Student Work
This spring, AOA student Maria F. participated in the 135th annual White House Easter Egg Roll. Read her essay about enjoying games and stories on the South Lawn alongside 30,000 others from across the nation.
