THE VHS COLLABORATIVE WEBINAR SERIES PRESENTS: “Transforming STEM Programs Using Engaging Online Content“ Join us on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 for this Free Webinar. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) related jobs will grow faster than the overall growth of all occupations between 2010 and 2020. By 2018 2.8 million STEM jobs will open on the market and 92% of these jobs will require education beyond high school. It’s critical that America’s students be prepared for these jobs. However it is equally critical that they have interest in them, and that doesn’t happen by chance. America’s leaders from the White House to state capitals to labor organizations to district administrators are concerned about the need to increase the number of students interested in STEM related college majors and careers. Increasing interest in STEM related college majors and careers must begin in high school or even earlier. Administrators need effective, practical and budget friendly solutions to unlock students’ hidden STEM interests. One solution is to adopt online learning strategies that allow teachers to: Deliver innovative and engaging content Increase conversation and collaboration in the STEM classroom Relate STEM subjects to real-world applications and careers Topics of Discussion This webinar will explore the variety of ways in which online learning can help traditional STEM programs: Enhance and complement face-to-face instruction Increase engagement, collaboration and scientific literacy Transform teacher effectiveness through 21st century professional development opportunities.
