Dean of Instruction at Allied National High School
It’s summer, and for many students that means balancing offline fun in the sun with online courses. At ANHS we provide our students with fail-proof tips to help them make the most of their summer and achieve their academic goals to boot! Even more, while some of our tips are specific to our online high school, they can certainly help guide any learner.ANHS Summer Survival Tip #1: Ask for help.
You do not need to feel isolated as you hit the books this summer. At ANHS, we have a faculty of highly qualified instructors waiting to help you. You can call your instructor or email them to ask for assistance. Their contact information can be found on the staff information page in your online course. Also, your math teacher hosts an office hour in the Help Center from 2-3 p.m. (PST) each Tuesday.
ANHS Summer Survival Tip #2: Check the grade book and your email daily.
Your teachers work hard to grade your assignments and provide you with feedback. If you check daily to see if they have graded your work, you will be able to use that feedback and submit your work regularly so you can finish on time. Teachers also email students often, and we expect you to check that often as well.
ANHS Summer Survival Tip #3: Plan ahead.
You can use the lesson instructions in the course documents section of your course to plan a schedule for course completion. Please keep in mind the grading turnaround time. You should also keep in mind that it takes five hours to complete a lesson, and you will also need to find time to study for exams. If you plan ahead and make daily and weekly goals, you will be more likely to complete on time. If you take an extra day off to head to the beach, just make sure to adjust your schedule to make up for the lost time.
Follow these three tips, and your summer will be a success!
