We would like to announce The Quality Matters 4th Annual Conference on Quality Assurance in Online Learning. We invite you to join us October 3-6, 2012 at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, AZ. October 3rd is a day of pre-conference workshops. The conference begins October 4th and concludes on the 6th. Check out our conference tracks and topics. The Call for papers is now open and runs to Wednesday, March 7. Featured Workshops Scheduled in March & April Attention K-12 Educators: Integrate National Standards and Best Practices with a QM Workshop this spring!  QM Workshops inspire attendees with hands on know-how to design their online courses to meet the standards laid out in the Quality Matters Rubric and to implement an integrated quality assurance process. About the Workshops  G6-12 IYOC Workshop: (G6-12 IYOC) Improving Your Online Course This workshop explores the Grades 6-12 (G6-12) Rubric and provides a framework to improve the quality of online courses.  Participants use the 42 standards of the Rubric to review the design of their online courses. The workshop culminates in the creation of a Course Improvement Plan. Online, three weeks, facilitated. No pre-requisites. IYOC Fees: Subscribers $175 per participant Non-subscribers: $225 Date: Tuesday, March 27th G6-12 APPQMR Workshop: (G6-12 APPQMR) Applying the Grades 6 – 12 Quality Matters Rubric The G6-12 APPQMR workshop is the most comprehensive approach to the G6-12 Rubric offered by QM.  This rigorous workshop covers all elements of the Grades 6-12 Rubric and its use in evaluating online courses. This course discusses the underlying rationale for each standard and provides hands on experience. Online, two-three week, facilitated, asynchronous.  No pre-requisite requirements. G6-12 APPQMR Fees:   Subscribers: $175 per participant Non-subscribers: $225 per participant Date: Tuesday, April 3 G6-12 RCW Workshop: (G6-12 RCW) Grades 6-12 Reviewer Certification Workshop The G6-12 RCW course covers the policies and procedures governing Quality Matters course reviews for Grades 6 – 12, and addresses the roles and responsibilities of a peer reviewer. Participants receive a “hands on” experience by reviewing elements of an actual G6-12 course. Prerequisites:  Participants must have successfully completed the G6-12 APPQMR. To be eligible for certification as a G6-12 course reviewer, K-12 personnel must have taught or developed an online or blended course during the previous 18 months.  Certified higher education peer reviewers may also qualify to be dually certified, if they have prior K-12 teaching experience, have taught dual enrollment courses, or participate in teacher education programs. Online, facilitated, asynchronous. G6-12 RCW fees: Subscribers: $175 per participant Non-subscribers: $225 per participant Date: Tuesday, April 24th Integrating National Standards and Best Practices The award-winning Quality Matters (QM) Program is a teacher-administrator centered, peer review process that is designed to certify the quality of online and blended courses. The Quality Matters Grades 6-12 Rubric integrates existing national standards for K-12 online education promulgated by The Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), The North American Council for Online Learning (iNACOL), The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), and The Partnership for 21st Century Skills.
