A while ago, I posted an entry that announced Oxford Launches Virtual School: Program With China Allows Students To Take Part In Exchange Program Without Travel. Over the weekend I was working on a writing project, where I used this program as an example and got curious about what else I could find out about them program. Thus far, I’ve been able to dig up the following (note some of these items only make passing reference to the virtual school):
- Creating a Model Global School from Oxford Community Schools (September 2010)
- Minutes of Regular Meeting from Oxford Board of Education (January 10, 2011)
- Oxford Community Schools Supplement from the Oakland Press (May 1, 2011)
- Breaking Conventional Wisdom to Achieve Excellence and Sustainability from CEFPI MWGL Regional 2010 Conference (May 13, 2011)
- Oxford launches virtual school: Program with China allows students to take part in exchange program without travel from The Oakland Press (May 15, 2011)
- Virtual high school created to generate bucks from The Oxford Leader (May 18, 2011)
- Virtual School Programs Coming in Michigan from Association of American Educators (May 20, 2011)
- An Interview with William Skilling: Questions About Oxford Community Schools from Education News (May 23, 2011)
- Wildcat Review from Oxford Community Schools (June 2011)
- OAKLAND PRESS EDITORIAL: Virtual program could produce real success from William Skilling Blog (June 7, 2011)
- Terry Lang’s Public Comments Expose Unwillingness To Admit The Truth…. from The Tinderbox: Lake Orion Schools Blog (June 11, 2011)
- Chinese Program Map from Asia Society (no date)
I can tell you that the school has a website now (and since the name has been refined to Oxford Virtual Academy), that may also be why I couldn’t find any news beyond June or last year on the program. Either way, I’d be interested in hearing more about how this program is doing…

Please note that I removed Michelle’s telephone number from this comment and I e-mailed her directly to let her know that I wasn’t associated with this program, but would be happy to provide her with contacts for all of the K-12 online learning programs in Michigan that I am aware of.
