The panelists will express their views taking into account what they heard today regarding disruptive innovation and the future of online learning. The audience will have an opportunity to present their views and ask questions.

After a presentation of a plaque for being named number two in the US for K-12 online learning policy (see Michigan Ranks Second in U.S. For Online Learning), Rick began the panel with a question that basically asked, what does disruptive innovation mean to you in your position? The responses thus far are largely picking their favorite quotes from Michael Horn’s presentation this morning.
After the initial responses, they moved to a question and answer session. Some interesting questions too…
- What do we do when it comes to the students (and schools) caught in the digital divide?
- If you were to design a school for next year, what is one thing you would include or incorporate into that school?
- What other one or two things, beyond the seat time waiver, should MDE be considering to make education more modular?
- What about students who need a GED?
- What about students who’s parents are having to leave Michigan to find work?
